Edit My Essay Form (ReTool, Figma, CSS)

Tools: ReTool, Figma, CSS
Role: Designer & Programmer

Problem

The existing Edit My Essay form could not support new service offerings, leading to friction for users and operational limitations. The form needed to scale to support peak editing seasons while introducing new revenue and engagement features.

Key challenges included:

  • Requesting a specific editor

  • Submitting multiple essays in one request

  • Auto-generating prompts for common applications (Common App, UC, Supplementals)

  • Promoting ElevatEd’s YouTube resources

Solution

I redesigned and rebuilt the form to be scalable, intuitive, and business-aligned.

  • Researched and analyzed successful multi-step service forms

  • Designed multiple form concepts in Figma, focusing on clarity and reduced cognitive load

  • Implemented the final design directly in ReTool, manually building logic and validation

  • Added dynamic pricing and editor-request functionality

  • Conducted multiple rounds of customer surveys to identify confusion points and bugs

  • Iterated on layout, copy, and pricing transparency based on feedback

Result

  • Launched a clean, scalable form capable of handling high seasonal demand

  • Increased revenue through the Requested Editor Fee feature

  • Improved customer understanding of pricing and services

  • Reduced customer confusion and support questions during peak seasons

Manager and Employee Dashboard

Tools: ReTool, JavaScript, SQL, Python
Role: Individual Designer & Programmer

Problem

Managers and editors lacked a centralized, scalable way to understand the health and performance of the Asynchronous Essay Editing Service.

Specific challenges included:

  • Managers needed a high-level view of operational health and staffing needs

  • Editors needed visibility into their personal progress and performance trends

  • The existing Airtable dashboard I previously designed was limited in layout flexibility, UI/UX, and analytical depth

  • Growing data volume created a need for cleaner visualizations and predictive insights

Solution

I redesigned and rebuilt the dashboard to support both managerial decision-making and editor transparency.

  • Reviewed the existing Airtable dashboard to identify strengths and limitations

  • Interviewed managers and editors to understand what data was most valuable and what was missing

  • Rebuilt the dashboard from scratch in ReTool, expanding it into a multi-page system

  • Used JavaScript, SQL, and Python to support advanced queries, transformations, and predictive models

  • Designed clearer, more readable charts and layouts for faster insight consumption

  • Conducted multiple rounds of user surveys and feedback sessions to refine usability and data relevance

Result

  • Launched an 8-page dashboard providing comprehensive visibility for both managers and editors

  • Enabled managers to make data-driven decisions, including:

    • Identifying high-performing or underperforming customer funnels

    • Forecasting staffing needs using predictive models

  • Gave editors access to personal performance metrics and company-wide statistics

  • Improved transparency and alignment between management and staff through shared data access

Automated Email Designs

Tools: Figma, HTML, CSS
Role: Designer & Frontend Developer

Problem

Automated transactional emails sent to customers lacked cohesive branding and clarity, reducing trust and making it harder for customers to quickly understand important purchase information.

Key challenges included:

  • No consistent, “official” ElevatEd branding across automated emails

  • Customers needed clear confirmation of critical actions (receipts, timelines, tracking numbers, completion dates)

  • Existing emails were functional but visually inconsistent and easy to overlook

Solution

I designed and implemented a set of branded, reusable email templates that aligned with ElevatEd’s visual identity and improved clarity for customers.

  • Designed multiple iterations of each email type in Figma, using designs the manager liked as inspiration

  • Focused on hierarchy, readability, and scannability for transactional content

  • Iterated on designs based on manager feedback to align with brand expectations

  • Built final templates using HTML and CSS, ensuring compatibility with automated email systems

  • Delivered clean, ready-to-use code to the manager for integration into the existing system

Result

  • Launched a cohesive suite of branded automated emails across key customer touchpoints

  • Improved customer confidence by clearly communicating purchase confirmations and timelines

  • Increased brand recognition by ensuring emails were immediately identifiable as ElevatEd communications

  • Reduced customer confusion around order status and next steps
